Hurricanes Irma and Maria - Caribbean Update

 

We are devastated by the impact of Hurricane Irma & Hurricane Maria upon the US and the wonderful Caribbean islands. A few of the ports that our ships routinely visit in the winter season have had damage to both the infrastructure and vibrant communities who support our operations and work hard to provide us with fantastic experiences.

 

We are currently working with our network of port agents and authorities to establish their wellbeing and to assess the situation in each area. We will share any relevant information as soon as we can. Should it be necessary to amend any Caribbean itineraries then we will advise guests as soon as possible.

I have booked a Caribbean cruise and would like an update on my itinerary.
We are currently talking to our port agents in each of the affected islands to assess the situation in each area. As you can imagine communication is difficult at the moment in many places but as soon as we can establish the facts we will then be able to share an update. We apologise we cannot be clearer at this stage.

Will cruises be cancelled?
We will not be cancelling any cruises.

Will my itinerary be changed?
Whilst we need to support the communities in those affected islands, inevitably it may take some time to repair the damage and restore those islands so they are able to accept cruise guests. We are talking to each of the islands to understand the extent of the damage so we can make a decision on the itineraries. As soon as we are aware of any changes we will be in touch with all guests individually or through the travel agent. At the moment unfortunately we cannot confirm the time scale but will certainly let you know as soon as possible.

What do we do about paying our due balance?
The balance of your holiday should be paid in accordance with the terms and conditions in the brochure.

Will you be offering free of charge cancellations/refunds/changes?
At this point there are no confirmed changes to the itineraries. If any changes are necessary then we will review them in line with our booking conditions and we will be in touch with guests individually or through the travel agent. At the moment unfortunately we cannot confirm the time scale but we will certainly let you know as soon as possible.

Will our insurance cover us if we cancel?
Each insurance policy is different so guests should speak to their insurance company directly.

Can I help with the hurricane relief efforts?
We are talking to the affected islands directly to assess their immediate and longer term needs and we will shortly be posting details for those wishing to donate.

Is Carnival Corporation/P&O Cruises/Cunard donating to the hurricane relief?
We are talking to each of the islands individually to understand what they need in terms of support so that as a Corporation we can provide wider and long term help to rebuild these wonderful communities.

What if I have booked shore excursions in cancelled ports, will these be cancelled?
If any ports are cancelled then a full refund will be given on any booked shore excursions.

Are there any Cunard ships in the Caribbean at the moment?
There are no Cunard ships in the Caribbean until the end of November.
